A man involved in an extortion attempt on an employee of an inner-west Sydney medical centre has been arrested and will appear in court on Saturday.
The 51-year-old Campsie man has been charged over the extortion attempt at an Ashfield doctors surgery, in which one employee was punched, kicked and threatened.
Police say that at 2.30pm (AEST) on April 29 the man attended the Hercules medical centre with another man and woman, where he assaulted a male employee.
According to police, the centre worker was punched and kicked by the man, before the trio threatened him and demanded he pay a sum of money by a nominated date.
The matter was reported to police the following day, and on Friday the 51-year-old man was arrested by police.
He has been charged with assault, malicious damage and demanding money with menaces, and will appear at Parramatta Bail Court.
